PROFILE

Anthony Solomon (known by many as Solly) completed his articles in 1994 at a large leading firm of attorneys in Johannesburg. He was admitted as an attorney in 1995. He specialised in Employment Law.

Anthony’s vast experience in Employment Law includes his role in the late 90’s as a director of a large, listed entity in the food manufacturing sector, at the time with a complex, large and militant workforce. Anthony continues to provide advice to employers with highly unionized workforces and has honed his ability to act as a positive influence in improving and managing the relationship between Management and Union leaders. His deep knowledge and understanding of workforce restructuring, retrenchments, strike action and closures is invaluable to employers. Anthony is an accredited mediator.

Anthony has been instrumental in establishing solomonholmes as a leading firm of Employment Law Attorneys for major corporations in South Africa. solomonholmes now boasts as its clients many leading employers across all sectors of the South African economy.

PASSION

Anthony has a passion for resolving board room disputes and he regularly advises Boards of large corporates and Senior Executives on how best to resolve these often complex matters. He is highly regarded by his fellow professionals in the application of pre-emptive dispute techniques for the resolution of Executive level disputes. His practical advice on issues relating to allegations of sexual misconduct, racial and gender discrimination are designed to pre-emptively understand the nature of the issue and address an employer’s obligations under the law.

Anthony’s passion for the pre-emptive resolution of disputes, coupled with the firm’s commitment to resolving matters in the most practical and efficient way, is deliberately designed to challenge the unnecessary hurdles put in place by a cottage industry of lawyers and consultants in the area of individual dismissal law.

Outside of the workplace Solly’s passions include snapping fly rods and chasing feathered birds!
