Kathleen Holmes is a practicing attorney with over 25 years of experience in employment law.

After completing her articles Kath gained invaluable experience in the field of collective employment law in the mining sector while working for Goldfields. She took up senior roles which included advising Goldfields on all aspects in a complex and highly unionized environment. In addition, she headed up wage negotiations and at the time represented Goldfields at the then Chamber of Mines.

On leaving Goldfields she resumed practicing as an attorney, and as a founding partner, continues to lead the firm’s collective employment law department.

Kathleen is regarded by her peers as a leading practitioner in all aspects in the field of collective employment law and her advice is highly sought after by large, unionized employers.

Kathleen was recently granted an award by SASLAW in recognition of her pro bono work. She has also acted on a pro bono basis as a Judge in the Labour Court.

Kathleen has for almost three decades passionately shared her deep understanding of the complexities of the workplace with her loyal client base and her colleagues. This is perhaps her greatest asset.

A review of many of the reported cases involving Goldfields and Sibanye-Stillwater out of the Labour and Labour Appeal Court can mostly be attributed to Kathleen, who can hold herself out as a pioneer in the evolution of collective employment law.
